About the position

The Associate Director of Marketing at Middlesex College is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive multi-channel marketing plan aimed at enhancing brand awareness, attracting prospective students, and fostering engagement with current students, employees, alumni, and other stakeholders. This role is pivotal in ensuring brand consistency across all marketing efforts and plays a key part in the growth and development of the Marketing and Communications department. The Associate Director will oversee the Marketing branch, managing a team that includes professionals responsible for design, social media, photo/video production, printing, and copywriting. In this position, the Associate Director will provide strategic leadership in the direction and execution of marketing strategies that align with the College's mission and strategic goals. Collaboration with various College stakeholders is essential, as the Associate Director will advise on the best practices for promoting projects and increasing attendance at events. The role includes reviewing and approving all marketing collateral, video projects, and promotional materials to maintain brand integrity. Additionally, the Associate Director will develop and maintain a database of promotional materials and collaborate with departmental colleagues to create tailored collateral based on specific needs. The Associate Director will also manage the College's social media presence, guiding efforts to enhance the College's overall social networking experience. This includes leading the development of content and the execution of email marketing campaigns for both internal and external audiences. The role requires the Associate Director to develop comprehensive plans for College-wide events, including creating promotional materials and participating directly in these events. Furthermore, the Associate Director will maintain the student texting platform for communication with prospective students and will serve as the primary contact for the College's media buying agency and other vendors. Reporting on the success of marketing initiatives to College leadership is also a critical responsibility, utilizing various analytic tools to measure the effectiveness of social media, email marketing, and paid advertising campaigns. The Associate Director will directly supervise the Creative Services Manager and the Social Media and Marketing Strategist, overseeing their training and performance evaluations, and will also manage the College's in-house printing shop.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a multi-channel marketing plan to build brand awareness and attract prospective students.
  • Oversee the Marketing branch of the Marketing and Communications department.
  • Manage a team responsible for design, social media, photo/video, printing, and copywriting.
  • Provide leadership for the strategic direction and implementation of marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with College stakeholders on marketing material requests and provide counsel on promotions.
  • Review and approve designed collateral, video projects, and promotional materials for brand consistency.
  • Develop and maintain a database of promotional and branded materials.
  • Oversee the College's social media presence and enhance overall social networking experience.
  • Lead the development of content and delivery of email marketing campaigns.
  • Develop comprehensive plans to support College-wide events and create promotional materials.
  • Maintain the student texting platform for communication with prospective students.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the College's media buying agency and other vendors.
  • Report on the success of marketing efforts to College leadership using analytic tools.
  • Directly supervise the Creative Services Manager and Social Media and Marketing Strategist.
  • Oversee the College's in-house printing shop and assist with budget reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in marketing or advertising.
  • Supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in higher education, government, or at an advertising or marketing agency.
  • Experience with the development of printed materials.
  • Ability to maintain a complex budget.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
