About the position

The Associate Director, Observational Research Excellence at CSL Behring is a key role focused on real-world data (RWD) analytics and the development of internal RWD services. This hybrid position involves managing projects related to RWD, supporting protocol development for non-interventional studies, and ensuring the accessibility of RWD information across the organization. The role requires a strong background in epidemiology, statistics, or biostatistics, along with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on real-world data (RWD) and initiate the development of internal RWD services.
  • Create a searchable catalog of available in-house RWD and evaluate commonly used or new RWD datasets.
  • Lead efforts to archive RWD generated or owned by CSL Behring.
  • Independently conduct RWD analysis using various analytical tools and assist team members with analyses.
  • Support partners in protocol development, execution of analysis, and interpretation of results for non-interventional studies using RWD.
  • Manage operational and logistic aspects of projects related to FORExecellence, providing regular updates to leadership.
  • Track and record progress of FORExcellence tasks and lead educational events and communications.
  • Assess the information environment and available RWD to ensure current and future needs are met for real-world evidence generation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 7 years of post-graduate experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, regulatory, academia, or Contract Research Organizations.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in real-world evidence analytics, including programming in SAS, R, or SQL; knowledge of Python is a plus.
  • Broad experience with RWD sources such as administrative claims, EHR/EMR, disease registries, and public-use databases.
  • Experience identifying research cohorts using various classification codes such as ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, SNOMED, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with both US and ex-US RWD.
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages or analytical tools.
