About the position

The Associate Director of Admissions Operations at the University of Idaho plays a crucial role in managing the daily operations of the admissions process for both domestic and international undergraduate applicants. This position is under the Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management and reports directly to the Director of Admissions Operations. The Associate Director is responsible for ensuring that all admissions applications are processed efficiently and in compliance with university policies and data quality standards. This includes supervising admissions staff and student employees, overseeing the processing of prospective student files, and making independent decisions regarding admissions operations. In addition to managing the admissions team, the Associate Director coordinates the processing of international admissions, which involves researching complex materials and providing guidance to international students throughout the admissions process. This role requires a strong understanding of immigration laws and regulations, as the Associate Director will prepare necessary immigration forms and ensure compliance with these regulations. The position also demands a comprehensive knowledge of the university's admissions policies and procedures, as well as the ability to collaborate with various departments to align the admissions office's work with the broader goals of the university. The Associate Director is expected to demonstrate leadership and innovation in their approach to admissions operations, fostering a collaborative environment that supports the university's mission. This role is vital in shaping the admissions process and ensuring that it meets the needs of a diverse student population while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day processing of domestic and international undergraduate applications.
  • Supervise admissions operations staff and student employees.
  • Ensure compliance with admissions policies and data quality standards.
  • Coordinate international admissions processing and provide advising to international students.
  • Research complex materials related to admissions and immigration regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience working in an admissions environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and procedures related to admissions applications.
  • Experience analyzing information and resolving issues from various sources.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of international educational systems.
  • Experience with SEVIS and immigration regulations for non-immigrant students.
  • Work experience in a college or university setting.
  • Familiarity with UI policies and procedures, campus facilities, and student support services.
  • Experience with the Banner administrative database system.
  • Experience with Slate.
  • Ability to take initiative and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals from varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
