About the position

The Associate Director of Athletics Engagement and Events at Georgetown University plays a crucial role in supporting the philanthropic priorities and fundraising needs of the Athletics Department. This position focuses on strategic event planning and logistics management, ensuring successful execution of various events aimed at engaging donors and enhancing support for Georgetown Athletics. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders within the university's athletic and advancement teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the philanthropic priorities and fundraising needs of Georgetown University's Athletics Department through events, engagement, and volunteer management.
  • Plan and manage logistics for a variety of events, including contracts, budget oversight, invitations, and day-of execution.
  • Engage alumni, parents, fans, and friends to scale support for Georgetown Athletics and its 30 sport communities.
  • Collaborate with the Athletics Development team, coaches, and athletics administration to develop meaningful engagement strategies.
  • Communicate with coaches and senior sports administrators to design and implement strategic communications and engagement initiatives.
  • Manage Athletic Department volunteer boards and communicate with volunteer leaders to disseminate ongoing priorities.
  • Assist club presidents and board members in planning and executing events to engage current and prospective donors.
  • Manage student interns to support the Athletics Engagement and Development teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years of professional experience; 2 years of event experience preferred
  • Event planning experience within an athletics or alumni-related realm is preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and G Suite by Google Cloud
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills
  • Proven success in developing and managing events and programs
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel occasionally
  • Ability to meet deadlines while managing several projects at once
  • Motivational skills and fundraising knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge in Salesforce, MarketingCloud, ThankView, and iModules a plus

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in alumni relations or fundraising events
  • Familiarity with donor engagement strategies
  • Experience managing budgets for events
