About the position

Culver-Stockton College is seeking an Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands and Recruitment Specialist to join the academic Music Department. This full-time position, starting in the fall of 2025, involves leading the Marching Band and Pep Band, coordinating recruitment efforts for the fine arts, and teaching courses aligned with departmental needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Admissions and the Music Department Chair to enhance the mission of the Department of Music.

Responsibilities

• Develop and provide leadership for the Marching Band and Pep Band programs.
• Enter the Thrill on the Hill band in various parades including the Homecoming parade, Hannibal Band Day, and Quincy Dogwood Parade.
• Coordinate with the Director of Athletics to schedule performances at home football and basketball games.
• Actively recruit students for the athletic bands and fine arts areas through various platforms and school visits.
• Help coordinate college visit days and work with the admissions office and marketing for recruitment efforts.
• Work closely with the financial aid office to coordinate scholarship offers for prospective students.
• Support the general education program and music program through coursework and lessons.
• Serve on committees as needed and maintain engagement with student retention efforts.
• Provide oversight of student workers.

Requirements

• Completed Master's degree in Music or Music Education or Instrumental Conducting.
• A proven record of success in the marching arts at the high school and/or collegiate setting.
• Demonstrated success in recruitment and retention efforts, preferably at the collegiate level.

Nice-to-haves

• ABD or Doctorate in Music or Music Education or Instrumental Conducting or a related degree.
• A proven record of success in the marching arts at the collegiate setting.
• Experience in arranging music for winds and percussion and writing marching band drills using computer assisted design software.
• Experience teaching in higher education, specifically teaching brass or percussion lessons.
