About the position

The Associate Director of Business Operations and Information Technology at the University of Southern Indiana is responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, coordination, and supervision of all aspects related to Housing and Residence Life operations. This role involves managing technological components, particularly the StarRez system, and collaborating with various university departments to enhance the student living experience. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a commitment to improving housing services and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison with the Business Office, Admissions, Facility Operations and Planning, and other University offices related to housing assignments and information technology.
  • Administer the housing and residence life data management software, StarRez, providing functional and technical leadership.
  • Direct all aspects of the StarRez Resident Management System (RMS), including coding housing applications and managing charge schedules.
  • Coordinate the department's effort to revise all housing applications annually for various student categories.
  • Develop and edit content for the StarRez housing portal and department website, ensuring annual revisions and enhancements.
  • Research system enhancements and evaluate their impact on existing policies and procedures, proposing recommendations as needed.
  • Create and revise data management documentation for the department.
  • Supervise staff assisting with housing assignments, business operations, and marketing.
  • Manage housing revenue and expenditures, preparing and executing department budgets under the Director's supervision.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Housing and Residence Life Facility Operations for daily operations of housing facilities.
  • Verify and document all billing processes for housing charges and manage data exchanges between RMS and Banner.
  • Assist the Director with facility budget management, strategic planning, and vendor contracts.
  • Maintain visibility in housing areas to proactively serve the community living in on-campus housing.
  • Serve on Housing and Residence Life committees and/or university committees as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Three years of experience in business administration or residence life operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in office administration or a related field.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as JavaScript, XML, Java, C#, Python, or SQL.
  • Understanding of databases and analytic technologies.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Familiarity with housing, residence life, or apartment management field.
