About the position

Contact Discovery Services LLC, a leading eDiscovery technology and consulting firm headquartered in Washington DC, is seeking an Associate Director of eDiscovery Operations. This remote position is ideal for an individual with over 5 years of experience in data processing and a comprehensive understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM). The successful candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated, and possess prior experience in leading a team. In this role, you will lead and manage the eDiscovery operations team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and continuous development. You will work closely with project management, forensics, and other internal team members to complete complex projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing eDiscovery strategies, protocols, and procedures to optimize efficiency and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. You will also assist in developing, documenting, and refining procedures to meet discovery process requirements. Additionally, you will integrate emerging data sources, such as social media, mobile data, and cloud-based platforms, into the eDiscovery process. Providing third-party Relativity application support, including setup and development of standard operations procedures, will be a key part of your role. You will handle complex and sensitive eDiscovery issues, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of eDiscovery applications like Relativity. Your responsibilities will also include managing and deploying hotfixes and patches, coordinating regular upgrades, and monitoring application performance to proactively identify and resolve potential issues. You will maintain comprehensive documentation of application configurations and support procedures, generate reporting metrics and KPIs for your team, and provide performance reviews to the Director.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the eDiscovery operations team, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Work closely with project management, forensics, and other internal team members on complex projects.
  • Develop and implement eDiscovery strategies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and refining procedures for discovery process requirements.
  • Integrate emerging data sources into the eDiscovery process.
  • Provide third-party Relativity application support, including setup and development of SOPs.
  • Handle complex and sensitive eDiscovery issues, providing expert guidance and resolution.
  • Ensure high availability and optimal performance of eDiscovery applications.
  • Manage and deploy hotfixes and patches to address urgent issues.
  • Coordinate and oversee regular upgrades and updates to eDiscovery applications.
  • Monitor application performance and system logs to proactively identify issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of application configurations and support procedures.
  • Generate and distribute reporting metrics and KPIs to team members.
  • Provide performance reviews to the Director and support feedback to team members.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of project teams, managing team utilization and training needs.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users.

Requirements

  • B.S. or B.A. degree, preferably in information technology, computer science, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in eDiscovery operations with a proven record in data processing and application support.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in operational roles.
  • 5 years of experience displaying leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of eDiscovery tools and technologies (e.g., Relativity, Nuix Workstation).
  • Complete understanding of the EDRM to assist in custom workflows.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Prior experience writing MS SQL scripts.
  • Deep understanding of various file types including archive files and forensic images.
  • Basic understanding of digital forensic preservation functions.
  • Familiarity with scripting, programming, coding, and/or database languages (SQL, VB, HTML, Access).
