About the position

The position involves assisting the Director of Finance in managing the financial activities of the Westin St. Louis hotel. This includes safeguarding assets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company standards. The role requires effective management of accounting functions, accounts receivable, and departmental expenditures, while also focusing on the development and training of accounting associates.

Responsibilities

• Perform all accounting functions as needed.
• Schedule, monitor, and evaluate departmental expenditures to stay within budget.
• Establish and monitor scheduling of all accounting associates, including Night Audit.
• Assist in producing financial statements within designated time frames.
• Verify compliance with Finance SOP manual and participate in asset inventories.
• Maintain records storage area in compliance with record retention requirements.
• Prepare and manage sales tax returns and other applicable tax liabilities.
• Manage and oversee all Accounts Receivable functions, including collection calls.
• Ensure timely processing of credit cards and cash deposits.
• Assist in the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts each period.
• Identify, screen, and attract management candidates from outside the company.
• Train associates in job responsibilities.

Requirements

• One year experience in Hotel or Hospitality related Finance and Accounting.
• Knowledge of Hotel Financial Statements and reconciliation of A and L accounts.
• B.S. in Accounting.
• Analytical approach to problems with high regard for detail and accuracy.
• Sound administrative and managerial skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
