Associate Director of IT Project and Change Management

About the position

The position involves leading and assisting with technology initiatives for internal IT teams and the larger university through all five phases of the project management lifecycle, from initiation to closure. Responsibilities include developing project charters, plans, and schedules, monitoring issues and risks, and ensuring project goals align with business objectives. The role also requires organizing and leading project teams, using project management tools to track performance, and reporting status to stakeholders. Additionally, the position involves implementing change management strategies and ensuring processes are documented and communicated effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist with or lead technology initiatives through all five phases of the project management lifecycle.
• Develop project charters, project plans, and schedules.
• Identify and monitor issues and risks.
• Provide leadership and motivation to project team members.
• Ensure project goals align with business objectives.
• Organize, coordinate, and lead the project team.
• Use project management tools to track project performance.
• Report project status to key stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
• Document processes and procedures.
• Implement change management strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Two (2) years in a supervisory and/or progressively responsible management role.
• Three (3) years of experience in planning, organizing, and meeting deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

• Five (5) years of experience in an IT environment.
• Experience requiring strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with KU computer/information systems and services.
• Experience requiring independent decision making and analyzing complex issues.
• Project Management certification (such as PMP, Prince2, etc.).
• Kansas Information Technology Office (KITO) Project Management Methodology certification.
