Requirements

  • Minimum of three years experience as an R.N., with at least one year in teaching or clinical supervision within the past five years.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership skills and ability to foster a customer service-oriented culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing with responsibilities as determined jointly.
  • Provide leadership and counseling in developing, coordinating, implementing, and supervising department policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Nursing in establishing, reviewing, and revising policies and programs.
  • Develop, coordinate, supervise, and consult on management systems for the Vocational Nursing Department.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate initial orientation and ongoing educational experiences for Vocational Nursing students.
  • Assist faculty in planning and developing clinical/theory schedules and lesson plans.
  • Work with the Director to maintain records and reports pertinent to the Vocational Nursing program.
  • Assist in securing and maintaining instructional and reference materials.
  • Participate in selection and preparation of instructional materials.
  • Plan and oversee the orientation and training of new personnel.
  • Maintain effective communication with assigned personnel and provide necessary guidance and counseling.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, projects, surveys, and studies conducted by the Vocational Nursing Department and Administration.
  • Contribute to the development of new and better ways for performing job functions.
  • Assist with preliminary interviews of prospective students.
  • Participate in the student counseling process.
  • Act as first line substitute instructor on-call for clinical/theory relief.
  • Direct and monitor activities of the department in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Confer frequently with the Director of Nursing in regularly scheduled work sessions.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education and other learning experiences.
  • Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
