About the position

The Associate Director of Pharmacometrics at Merck Sharp & Dohme will lead efforts in model-informed drug discovery and development (MIDD) within the Quantitative Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics (QP2) department. This role involves applying advanced pharmacometric capabilities to enhance decision-making processes and drive pipeline impact across various therapeutic areas. The Associate Director will work independently and collaboratively with scientists, focusing on developing and executing pharmacometric models and analyses to optimize drug development strategies.

Responsibilities

• Drive model-informed drug discovery and development (MIDD) to enable efficient drug discovery and regulatory decisions.
• Develop and execute population pharmacokinetic models, PK/PD models, exposure response models, and other pharmacometric analyses.
• Frame critical drug development questions to optimize model-informed development.
• Author or co-author strategic documents related to drug/vaccine development programs.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of global regulatory expectations for small molecules and biologics.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug development or academia, or a PharmD with at least 5 years of experience, or an MS with at least 7 years of experience.
• Educational background in pharmacometrics, biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical sciences, mathematics, statistics/biostatistics, computational biology/chemistry, or related fields.
• Proficiency in performing pharmacometrics analyses such as population PK, PKPD, ER, MBMA, CTS.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in standard pharmacometric software (e.g., R, NONMEM, Monolix, Matlab).
• Strong skills in experimental design, mathematical problem solving, and critical data analysis/interpretation.
• Good interpersonal skills for teamwork and productive interactions.
