About the position

The Project & Portfolio Lead at AstraZeneca will provide expert project management leadership within the Global Biologics Operations Strategy & PMO team. This role focuses on delivering key strategic projects, coaching project managers, and supporting the Director PMO with strategy deployment and portfolio analytics. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and adhere to quality standards. The lead will also manage project management tools and methodologies, providing insights and recommendations to inform portfolio direction and investment prioritization.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver analyses and scenario planning options to support governance decision-making.
  • Aggregate the portfolio of wait-list projects and develop prioritized options for the Sr Director Strategy & PMO.
  • Partner with Project Sponsors and business owners to support project initiation and governance review forums.
  • Certify that candidate projects meet the correct business case standards.
  • Support consistent use of portfolio management practices related to governance preparations and resource capacity management.
  • Ensure data quality for both product and non-product related projects for robust portfolio analyses and reports.
  • Manage the monthly dashboard/KPI portfolio process and deliver integrated portfolio reports and communications.
  • Support external stakeholder reporting activities on the Biologic operations portfolio and performance.
  • Assist the Sr. Director Strategy & PMO with annual strategy deployment, strategic transformation, and business planning cycles.
  • Manage strategic aspects of large projects, including risk management and interdependencies between programs.
  • Own and improve biologics PMO project management methodologies and processes.
  • Create and manage opportunities for continuous improvement related to project management metrics and KPIs.
  • Develop lean capabilities across the team and support individual development plans.
  • Manage and deliver Global Biologics Operations strategic projects utilizing PMO project methodology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • Professional qualification - PMP.
  • Mastery of project management with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and experience in motivating and empowering others.
  • Significant understanding of project & portfolio management processes and tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Planisware, Qlikview).
  • Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, and performance targets in a global environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with experience in collaboration.
  • Strong networking/consulting skills with connections in project management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's in an appropriate discipline.
  • Experience in a global organization with complex geographical contexts.
  • Experience in preparation, planning, and execution of Biologic product launches.
  • Advanced knowledge of Portfolio Management tools/systems.
  • Portfolio Management Qualification (PfMP).
