About the position

The Associate Director of Recruitment Marketing at the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering will play a pivotal role in enhancing the prospective student enrollment marketing efforts for the school's graduate programs. This includes overseeing marketing strategies for the Whiting School's ten full-time, on-campus master's and PhD programs, the Engineering for Professionals online master's programs, and the Doctor of Engineering (DEng) non-residential doctoral degrees. Additionally, the role encompasses support for pre-collegiate and professional and executive education initiatives as needed. In this position, the Associate Director will be responsible for developing comprehensive marketing content and strategies aimed at recruiting and enrolling students. This will involve utilizing various marketing and communications tactics, such as digital lead generation, email marketing, social media outreach, blogs, and video content. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with the communications team to create engaging content and execute organic marketing strategies that resonate with a diverse range of stakeholders. The role requires a strategic mindset to develop and execute recruitment marketing strategies that align with the school's goals for graduate, pre-collegiate, and professional education. This includes leveraging market research and data analysis to identify opportunities and trends that can enhance recruitment efforts. The Associate Director will manage full-funnel marketing campaigns, ensuring effective tactics are employed from initial awareness through to enrollment. This includes maintaining communication with prospective and admitted students through an integrated marketing strategy, utilizing digital marketing, email campaigns, and promotional events. The Associate Director will also be responsible for managing the prospective student database, ensuring its integrity, and coordinating with admissions and enrollment teams to streamline communications. The position may require some domestic travel for recruitment events, and the Associate Director will serve as a key contributor to providing high-quality customer service to meet the marketing recruitment and enrollment needs of the Whiting School.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute recruitment marketing strategies aligned with the school's goals for graduate, pre-collegiate, and professional education.
  • Manage and develop a full-funnel marketing campaign to generate student leads and establish effective marketing tactics throughout the funnel.
  • Manage the development, maintenance, and execution of marketing communications to students in the pipeline, including prospective and admitted students.
  • Develop, update, and manage the prospective student database to ensure its integrity and coordinate with admissions and enrollment teams.
  • Collaborate with the digital media manager and communications team on content creation for social media, websites, and digital platforms.
  • Serve as the central strategist for promoting information sessions, open houses, and program events.
  • Analyze marketing data, leverage market research, and create regular marketing reports to optimize conversions and enrollments.
  • Support marketing efforts for international, industry, and other partners relevant to student recruitment.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for data functions and marketing options in Slate.
  • Provide high-quality customer service to meet the marketing recruitment and enrollment needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Five years of related experience in recruitment marketing or communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills and experience with project management tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of Zoom, MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with marketing automation systems, preferably SLATE.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
  • Experience with CMS systems and WordPress.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or Public Relations.
  • Six to eight years of related experience in higher education marketing.
  • Experience creating and executing digital marketing campaigns, including paid and organic efforts.
  • Supervisory experience.
