About the position

The position is responsible for overseeing total room, banquet, catering, and room rental revenue for the hotel. The role involves implementing yield strategies, ensuring market performance, and meeting budget and forecast targets. The individual will develop and solicit business from various markets to secure advance bookings necessary for a profitable hotel operation.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the solicitation efforts of the sales staff through effective communication.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and evaluate sales staff performance.
  • Ensure regular training programs are conducted and HEI standards are met.
  • Compile and direct the preparation of operational reports for the Sales Department.
  • Conduct ongoing research of the travel industry to identify market trends.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Prepare and execute the annual business plan, adjusting as necessary based on market conditions.
  • Organize and attend scheduled sales department and executive committee meetings.
  • Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities.
  • Prepare and implement strategic sales plans, monthly reports, and sales budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of sales leadership in a similar sized operation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs and budgetary analysis capabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of sales skills and revenue management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property.
