About the position

The Associate Director of Student Loans and Financial Aid Systems and Title IV Operations at the University of Pennsylvania is responsible for supporting the Director in managing Title IV administration, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and overseeing the operational management of financial aid systems. This role involves strategic planning, system support, and daily operations management, with a focus on maintaining Title IV compliance and enhancing operational efficiency within the Division of Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director in Title IV administration and compliance with Department of Education systems.
  • Assist in monthly Title IV reconciliation of Pell, Federal Work Study, and Federal Loans.
  • Maintain knowledge of system upgrades and vendor patches related to financial aid.
  • Oversee user and system regression testing in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Troubleshoot daily output logs of financial aid jobs to identify issues with Title IV data files.
  • Supervise loan team staff and additional support teams on high-level projects.
  • Train staff on federal and private loan processes and maintain documentation.
  • Collaborate with end-users to assess system and reporting requirements for daily operations.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships throughout the University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven knowledge of SQL and Banner baseline processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Title IV administration and financial aid in higher education.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Advanced user skills with Excel and other Microsoft programs.
  • Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with algorithmic budgeting and packaging rules.
  • Knowledge of FSA Tech regulatory updates.
  • Experience in a highly matrixed and decentralized environment.
