The Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) is dedicated to educating leaders in design, research, and scholarship to create a resilient, just, and beautiful world. The GSD offers a variety of degree programs across multiple design disciplines, including architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, design engineering, and real estate, as well as advanced research programs that span these fields. The school also hosts a robust public program of lectures, exhibitions, and publications, fostering a vibrant environment for learning, inquiry, and collaboration. The Associate Director of Online Learning and Education plays a crucial role in overseeing the development and implementation of online courses and learning content tailored to the needs of both internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Academic and Strategic Planning, this position serves as the primary liaison between the GSD and Harvard University's Office of the Vice Provost for Advances in Learning (VPAL). The Associate Director collaborates closely with faculty leads to produce online courses and guides the overall strategy for online learning and content at the GSD. This role requires maintaining regular communication with various Harvard partners, including VPAL, Harvard University IT (HUIT), Harvard Law School, and Harvard Business School. In this position, the Associate Director will work both independently and collaboratively to lead the development of high-quality online courses and learning experiences that align with GSD priorities. Responsibilities include managing the online course and content development process, ensuring timely implementation of curriculum and project plans, and effectively communicating with project faculty, team members, external consultants, and stakeholders. The Associate Director will also draft preliminary materials for online course project proposals, provide editorial support for online learning environments, and explore innovative content and delivery methods suitable for online formats. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development of design templates and quality standards for online courses, as well as managing research assistants in acquiring and producing necessary course assets.
