About the position

The Associate Director, Operations and Assessment, is a pivotal role within the Academic Engagement and Student Experience (AESE) team at Indiana University's College of Arts and Sciences. This position is responsible for leading the development and assessment of strategic goals aimed at enhancing student engagement and success. The Associate Director will work closely with various stakeholders to solicit and iterate research needs, ensuring that assessments are designed to meet desired outcomes. This includes considering the audience, timeline, and goals of surveys to ensure that data projects effectively answer critical organizational questions. In this role, the Associate Director will provide meaningful analysis that supports decision-making processes, validating the accuracy of data before dissemination. They will develop processes for the secure collection, storage, and distribution of data to stakeholders, while consistently documenting all data retrieval, cleaning, analytical, and reporting processes. The position also involves leading the investigation and implementation of new software and partnerships as necessary, ensuring that assessment cycles are completed for each project and that ongoing assessments are tracked appropriately. Additionally, the Associate Director will contribute to the development of annual action items for data and assessment that align with the AESE and university strategic plans. They will assess projects and initiatives to prioritize work based on competing needs and communicate timelines effectively. As a project manager, the Associate Director will provide training, set role expectations, and offer feedback to supervisees, ensuring consistent development opportunities are prioritized. This role requires advanced analysis of existing data structures, the creation of reporting specifications, and the provision of consultation to faculty and staff to identify business reporting needs and opportunities for analysis. The Associate Director will also ensure that all processes and analysis approaches are efficient and up-to-date, participating in committees to share and improve data analysis practices across the university. They will perform complex data migrations and conversions, staying informed about emerging technologies and tools to enhance data analysis services.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, information science, or related field).
  • 5 years of data analysis, reporting, or related experience.
