About the position

The Associate Director, Patient Experience Data & Strategy at AbbVie is responsible for leading the design and execution of innovative patient experience data (PED) research to support product registration, access, reimbursement, and clinical practice. This role involves collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective cross-functional partnerships and to drive a patient-centric culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Execute global PED evidence generation and stakeholder engagement strategies aligned with asset strategy across multiple therapeutic areas.
  • Manage projects to ensure timely execution of PED research that characterizes patient outcomes and identifies patient preferences and unmet needs.
  • Align strategy with HEOR-Strategy counterparts and communicate results cross-functionally to integrate PED plans into broader Integrated Evidence Plans.
  • Ensure scientific quality and integrity of COA research through rigorous study proposals, protocols, analysis plans, and reports.
  • Integrate COA measurement strategy into clinical development programs and ensure implementation of COAs on eCOA platforms.
  • Develop and lead content for regulatory and reimbursement submissions regarding PED and patient-relevant endpoints.
  • Develop strategic scientific communication plans and present research in peer-reviewed journals and at congresses.
  • Serve as an internal SME on technical specialty areas and identify new methodologies in the field.
  • Develop and deliver standards/best practices and educational resources to integrate patient voice in development programs.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Psychology, Epidemiology, Statistics, Public Health, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) or related discipline (MS, MPH, PharmD, PhD) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in patient experience data research, clinical outcome assessment, and medical product development.
  • Demonstrated ability in evaluation & development of PED from conceptualization through negotiations with global authorities.
  • Experience in preparing regulatory & HTA submissions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence effectively across multiple internal and external customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in handling delivery of services across complex matrix environments globally.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory & HTA requirements for patient-centered endpoints.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in psychometric validation and implementation of patient-reported outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other HEOR capabilities.
