About the position

The Associate Director - Pharma Distribution and Logistics is responsible for managing third-party distribution and transportation operations for Bayer's Pharma U.S. operations. This role involves overseeing inbound and outbound logistics processes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and driving cost efficiency and service improvement through strong supply chain management expertise. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and a focus on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage third-party logistics (3PL) operations and ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Develop and oversee the operational budget, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for cost reduction and service improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements in logistics operations.
  • Coordinate inventory management processes, including receipts, cycle counting, and returns management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with 3PL providers and internal stakeholders for effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements related to pharmaceutical distribution, including DSCSA and serialization systems.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and utilize data-driven insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Continuously assess and optimize the transportation network and conduct risk assessments to mitigate vulnerabilities.

Requirements

  • Multiple years of supply chain, logistics, and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to manage special projects focused on strategic objectives.
  • Strong digital mindset with knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP, and ERP systems.
  • Experience in inventory management practices, including auditing and cycle counting.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Strong business acumen and financial knowledge.
  • Courage to drive results in a transforming environment.
  • Customer-oriented with the ability to manage complexity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or supply chain management discipline.
  • 8+ years of supply chain, logistics, and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of pharma DSCSA requirements, including serialization track and trace systems.
