About the position

The Global Procurement Associate Director for Seattle Research at Bristol-Myers Squibb is responsible for managing local stakeholder relationships and developing strategies that align with both stakeholder business strategies and Global Procurement category strategies. This role involves leading procurement activities for Specialty Laboratories related to the Seattle-based Translational R&D portfolio, partnering with local R&D scientific leadership, operations, and facilities teams to fulfill procurement needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic procurement oversight and serve as procurement counsel to scientific and operational stakeholders supporting Research activities.
  • Engage regularly and perform proactive relationship management with Research and Operations Leadership to understand business needs.
  • Spot market trends and innovative technologies to educate stakeholders on industry-leading practices and procurement solutions.
  • Influence site compliance with Global Procurement processes and policies while recognizing when local strategies may differ.
  • Develop a cohesive, site-specific strategic procurement plan in conjunction with global strategies for Research categories.
  • Manage an efficient supplier selection process to minimize risk and maximize value.
  • Oversee execution of critical R&D agreements for strategic projects.
  • Manage multiple projects/initiatives concurrently across various Research categories.
  • Incorporate input from Category Leads and stakeholders into supplier performance and relationship management programs.
  • Support the implementation of key enablement tools/systems to improve the buying channel experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum education of a B.S./B.A. degree is required; life sciences degree preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in procurement, sciences, finance, or technical operations.
  • Prior discovery research experience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, and/or medical device industry preferred.
  • Strong change management and business partnering orientation with excellent analytic, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading resources and people on initiatives of significant impact.
