About the position

The Associate Director, Risk Management & Insurance position at Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is a pivotal role within the Treasury department, specifically focusing on Risk Management and Insurance. This position is not an executive level role and offers a hybrid work environment, allowing candidates to work from either the Boston or New York City areas, or remotely from the eastern seaboard. The selected candidate will be responsible for collaborating with various RTX business segments to provide expert technical support and guidance on all matters related to risk management and insurance. This includes oversight and management of both US and international insurance programs, which encompass a wide range of areas such as Property/Asset Protection, Marine Cargo/Transit, Workers Compensation, and General Liability, among others. In this role, the Associate Director will identify insurance risks associated with the defense segment and support critical business activities such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. The position requires close collaboration with brokers, insurers, and third-party adjusters to ensure the quality of risk management services provided to Raytheon. Additionally, the Associate Director will administer the Defense Base Act policy in accordance with corporate standards and provide essential training and technical guidance to various departments including Finance, Engineering, and Operations. The role also involves interacting with business leaders on major construction projects and site expansions, participating in RTX Learning and Development initiatives, and providing updates on relevant risk management issues to RTX leadership teams. The Associate Director will lead discussions aimed at improving functional processes within Risk Management and will be involved in reviewing insurance renewal data to ensure comprehensive coverage and risk mitigation strategies are in place.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with RTX business segments to provide technical support and guidance on risk management and insurance matters.
  • Oversee and manage all US and international insurance programs for RTX, including Property/Asset Protection and General Liability.
  • Identify insurance risks associated with the defense segment.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures from a risk management perspective.
  • Conduct cost forecasting and risk finance activities.
  • Collaborate with brokers, insurers, and third-party adjusters to ensure quality risk management services.
  • Administer the Defense Base Act policy according to corporate standards.
  • Provide insurance claim reporting and contract review technical guidance to various RTX departments.
  • Interact with business leaders on major construction projects and site expansions.
  • Participate in RTX Learning and Development initiatives, including ethics courses.
  • Provide periodic updates on risk management issues to RTX leadership teams.
  • Lead discussions for functional process improvements within Risk Management.
  • Review insurance renewal data to ensure adequate coverage.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and at least 12 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 10 years of experience in a large corporate Risk Management setting.
  • 10 years of Risk Management experience in a large multi-national corporate environment.
  • 10 years of experience in managing a multi-line property and casualty insurance portfolio.
  • 5+ years of experience and/or knowledge of the defense contracting environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with others throughout RTX.
