About the position

The Associate Director, US Enterprise & Leader Communications at Novartis plays a pivotal role in connecting the US business strategy to both internal and external audiences. This position is designed to enhance executive visibility and establish a robust framework for engaging critical audiences. The ideal candidate will be based in East Hanover, NJ, although a distant working arrangement may be possible in certain states. Those working remotely will be responsible for their home office expenses and may need to travel periodically to the East Hanover office as determined by the hiring manager. For associates working on-site, relocation assistance may be available for those moving within 50 miles of the site. The role requires approximately 15% travel, which may include both domestic and international trips. In this role, the Associate Director will develop and execute experiences, agendas, and frameworks that connect Novartis leaders and employees to the company's strategy through US enterprise town halls and leader forums. The position involves building and facilitating an integrated communications plan that fosters connectivity among field-based associates, aligning them with the US business strategy and Novartis culture. The Associate Director will also create, manage, and execute a leader platform to share messaging and opportunities, helping to shape the industry landscape and elevate the corporate narrative through the voices of top US leaders. As a trusted business partner and communications strategy counselor, the Associate Director will work closely with key US leaders, particularly in the Novartis Patient Support and Customer Engagement sectors. The role includes generating and executing social media strategies for key US leaders to amplify the business strategy narrative, utilizing analytics and insights to inform strategy and report outcomes. Staying ahead of industry trends and providing recommendations for strategic messaging will be crucial, as will collaborating with the Executive Communications team on organizational change communications. The Associate Director will also be responsible for monitoring performance to achieve best-in-class outcomes while ensuring compliance and effectively managing the budget to maximize agency ROI.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • BA/BS required; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in executive communications or related discipline, preferably in healthcare and/or pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience in external communications strategy and implementation with a media relations background.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships and provide strategic counsel to top executives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with top US leadership.
  • Experience in developing and implementing integrated communications plans.
  • Change and organizational management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including narrative writing and content development.
  • Experience in social media strategy and content creation.
  • Strong event planning and execution skills.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with comfort in a matrix environment; ability to manage complex issues effectively.
  • Ability to operate within a dynamic and ambiguous environment.
  • Understanding of the US healthcare industry landscape.
  • Agency management capabilities.
