About the position

The Associate Director, US Medical Communications for Gastroenterology at Takeda Pharmaceutical is a strategic role responsible for developing and executing the medical communications strategy across the assigned therapeutic portfolio. This position involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to create and manage various medical communication materials and programs, ensuring scientific accuracy and alignment with company objectives. The role is hybrid, based in Lexington, MA, and reports to the Director of Medical Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of the medical communications strategy across the assigned therapeutic portfolio.
  • Develop and generate content for the Scientific Communication Platform (SCP) and Integrated Communication Platform (ICP).
  • Interact with internal stakeholders including Medical and Scientific Directors, Outcomes Research, and Field Medical teams.
  • Partner with external stakeholders such as opinion leaders and vendors for medical communication activities.
  • Plan, develop, and implement medical communication plans and education programs for assigned brands.
  • Maintain scientific accuracy of materials and drive updates to communication plans.
  • Support congress planning and execution, including oversight of content for medical affairs booths and scientific symposia.
  • Assist in scientific content development for training materials for the Field Medical Learning and Development Team.
  • Ensure medical communication projects remain on strategy, within budget, and executed promptly.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (i.e., MPH, MS, Ph.D., MD, or PharmD) in a biosciences discipline.
  • 4+ years of related experience at a pharmaceutical company or a medical communications agency.
  • 3+ years in medical affairs including roles in medical communication function.
  • Experience leading individuals and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience implementing medical communication and congress programs, including omnichannel communication and digital channels/tools.
  • Ability to work across diverse therapeutic areas.
  • Experience with resource allocation and vendor management.
  • Experience managing budgets.

  • Ability to interpret medical/scientific data and develop strategic messaging.
