About the position

The Associate Director of Student Connection and Community at Arizona State University plays a crucial role in overseeing the design, administration, and delivery of programs and services that enhance the student experience on the Tempe Campus. This position involves managing student organizations, advising staff, and coordinating university-wide events, all while ensuring fiscal responsibility and strategic alignment with university goals.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic planning for Student Connection and Community (SCC) and provide local leadership for program implementation and evaluation.
  • Support the Dean of Student's office in enhancing the student experience on the Tempe Campus.
  • Assist with advising student organizations and supervising staff.
  • Enhance student experiences through advising and supervising the Programming and Activities Board.
  • Support university-wide events such as Move in and Welcome Week, Homecoming, and Family Weekend.
  • Develop and maintain department policies and procedures.
  • Participate in assessment efforts, including tracking activities and measuring learning outcomes.
  • Manage fiscal responsibilities related to budgeting and revenue generation for SCC.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate professional staff in assigned areas.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and seven years of related administrative experience, including four years of supervisory experience, or eleven years of related experience with four years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and practices.
  • Experience in advising student organizations and managing budgets.
  • Strong skills in managing, supervising, and evaluating staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Higher Education or a related field.
  • Experience in a university setting.
  • Knowledge of management and supervisory practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
