About The Position

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) is now accepting applications for the exciting position of Associate Consultant with the Academic Office. This individual will provide coordination in planning and implementing initiatives and activities for the improvement of adult education programs consistent with state and federal statutes; will expand opportunities for adult education instructors to enrich the student learning experience and to raise student achievement; and will commit to improving the quality of adult education services statewide.

Requirements

  • An earned advanced degree and five (5) years of professional experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and training as approved by the appropriate Board and/or appointing authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and training in organizing and managing adult educational programs.
  • Connecticut Adult Education Endorsement (#106, #107, #088).
  • Intermediate Administration or Supervision certification (endorsement #092).
  • Experience with Title II requirements under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
  • Experience working with an Adult Education provider implementing Adult Education programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure State-authorized adult education providers are in compliance with state and/or federal laws, requirements, regulations, and state and/or federal policies.
  • Work collaboratively with adult education providers on initiatives with CT Department of Labor, American Job Centers, regional Workforce Development Boards, CT State Community Colleges, and Governor's Workforce Council and other stakeholders.
  • Review and monitor activities related to State Adult Education Grants to ensure appropriate use of State funds.
  • Review and monitor activities related to Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requirements to ensure appropriate use of federal funds.
  • Promote and monitor activities related to the transition of adult education students to postsecondary training and education and career opportunities.
  • Provide leadership to adult education staff responsible for transition programs and initiatives.
  • Provide current and relevant information to adult education providers on in-demand careers that provide family-sustaining wages and ongoing advancement opportunities.
  • Develop and share resources with adult education providers designed to support teachers.
  • Recommend improvement in the operations and the use of resources in the Department.
  • Collaborate and manage internal and external stakeholders, subject matter experts, vendors, and/or consultants to plan and support the adult education system.
  • Analyze local program data for purposes of promoting effective educational practice.
