About the position

The Associate Electrical Engineer - Buildings/MEP position at WSP USA involves supporting the design and analysis of electrical systems for various projects, particularly in the buildings and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) sectors. The role requires collaboration with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with engineering standards and project specifications, while also contributing to the development of technical documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data related to substation components and equipment specifications.
  • Perform basic professional electrical engineering work including design of wiring diagrams and substation layouts.
  • Provide technical assistance on design requirements, equipment sizing, and safety considerations.
  • Support senior engineers with research and recommendations on design requirements and field applications.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on engineering and construction procedures.
  • Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, and power distribution.
  • Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions.
  • Assist project managers with risk identification and assessment in design concepts and construction activities.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work and coordinating field/site work.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks and collaborate with other engineers on projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience in electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and design software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Prior design experience.
  • Experience with Revit.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
