About the position
The Associate Electrical Engineer at Valero will support the planning and execution of electrical projects within a petroleum refinery. This role involves providing technical assistance to maintenance and operations teams to enhance electrical system reliability, as well as supporting multi-disciplined projects and troubleshooting electrical issues.
Responsibilities
- Provides electrical support to refinery projects, including preparation of electrical equipment design specifications and development of procurement packages.
- Offers technical assistance on routine electrical issues, including troubleshooting and recommendations for repairs.
- Participates in Root Cause Failure Analyses and mentors personnel in the I&E shop.
- Develops strategies to improve electrical system reliability, including capital improvement and preventive maintenance.
- Updates and maintains electrical system relay coordination and short circuit studies.
- Prepares high voltage switching procedures and oversees their execution by Operations or Maintenance personnel.
- Proposes amendments to electrical specifications to align with the latest codes and technology.
- Applies advanced engineering principles to solve complex problems and represents the organization in meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher level degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- Graduation date of December 2024 or May 2025 required.
- Overall GPA of 3.2 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
- Must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card.
