About the position
The Associate Electrical Engineer will support the Electrical Engineering group by preparing design drawings, specifications, and contract documents for in-house projects. This role involves providing technical reviews and direction to outside consultants, interfacing with contractors, and offering field support during construction and commissioning of electrical systems. The position requires a strong understanding of power distribution and control systems, as well as the ability to prepare technical reports and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical and controls design drawings, specifications, and contract documents for District in-house design projects.
- Provide electrical and controls technical review and direction to outside design consultants related to the design and construction of large capital projects.
- Knowledge of medium and low voltage power distribution, switchgears, MCCs, VFDs, and motor control.
- Provide input and/or update District electrical and controls design guidelines, specifications, and standards.
- Interface with contractors and provide field technical support during construction and electrical and control systems commissioning.
- Prepare technical reports and correspondence to District management and other staff.
- Provide technical support to District electricians and control systems staff.
Requirements
- Degree in electrical engineering
- 3-5 years electrical engineering experience working for an engineering design firm or a Systems Integrator
- CA P.E. license in electrical engineering
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
