About the position

The Associate Electrical Engineer will support the continuous operations of Valley Water's raw, treated, and purified water systems. This role involves planning, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining critical electrical distribution systems essential for water pumping, conveyance, and treatment. The engineer will ensure adherence to professional codes and standards while contributing to the reliability of electrical power supply for safe water delivery to customers in Silicon Valley.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, schedule, assign, review, supervise and evaluate the work of assigned staff.
  • Serve as a technical resource in electrical engineering, overseeing quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Conduct engineering studies, investigations, and analyses to support planned projects and improvements.
  • Prepare electrical engineering schematics, specifications, drawings, and other supporting documentation for commercial and industrial applications.
  • Identify and report electrical deficiencies and safety issues, developing recommendations to mitigate disturbances and outages.
  • Lead or assist in resolving deficiencies and safety issues, potentially growing into a supervisory role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college/university.
  • Four years of experience in planning, designing, developing, implementing, modifying, installing, and/or maintaining electrical power system projects.
  • Design, installation, and troubleshooting experience in electrical power systems within an industrial environment.
  • Strong technical and project skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with a diverse set of projects, including researching electrical components and troubleshooting existing systems.
  • Experience working with vendors and evaluating bids.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering.
