About the position

As an Associate Electrical Engineer at Buro Happold, you will leverage your technical expertise in building services systems to contribute to innovative projects both in the US and globally. This role emphasizes collaboration, communication, and the opportunity for professional growth within a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with clients, architects, and other engineers as part of a dedicated team.
  • Produce coordinated detailed design drawings, electronic models, specifications, and reports for various projects.
  • Coordinate with utility companies and obtain necessary electrical permit approvals.
  • Organize technical and financial proposals for new work.
  • Manage the workload of Project Discipline Engineers and Technicians, ensuring quality verification.
  • Take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detailed design.
  • Prepare Technical Specifications and monitor financial performance of jobs.
  • Keep senior staff informed of important service/design decisions and client objectives.
  • Mentor junior Electrical Engineers and ensure practices align with client interests and legislation.
  • Plan and manage personal workload to meet deadlines and client commitments.
  • Proactively raise concerns regarding workload and deadlines.
  • Maintain an overview of the project team's workload to balance resource utilization and meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to delivering profitable projects by managing job/project administrative systems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years' experience in electrical engineering design in the building services and construction industry.
  • Experience in sectors such as Higher Education, Museums, Commercial, Transportation Hubs, and/or Stadiums.
  • Relevant bachelor or master's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation is desirable.
  • LEED AP accreditation is a plus.
  • Experience using Revit and familiarity with computational analysis tools for electrical fault analysis and lighting design.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills, with experience presenting to 'c-suite' stakeholders.
  • Experience in preparing technical reports for client delivery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Knowledge of climate change mitigation and energy master planning.
