About the position
The Associate Electrical Engineer will support the planning and execution of electrical projects within a petroleum refinery. This role involves providing technical assistance to maintenance and operations teams to enhance electrical system reliability, preparing design specifications, and offering construction and startup support for refinery projects. The engineer will also engage in troubleshooting, mentoring, and developing strategies for electrical system improvements.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning and execution of petroleum refinery electrical projects.
- Provide electrical support to multi-disciplined projects and technical assistance to maintenance and operations.
- Prepare electrical equipment design specifications and procurement packages.
- Provide construction/startup technical support for refinery projects.
- Assist with routine electrical issues, including troubleshooting and recommendations for repairs.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analyses and mentor personnel in the I&E shop.
- Develop strategies to improve plant electrical reliability, including capital improvement and preventive maintenance.
- Update and maintain electrical system relay coordination and short circuit studies.
- Prepare high voltage switching procedures and oversee their execution by Operations or Maintenance personnel.
- Propose amendments to electrical specifications to align with the latest codes and technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher level degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- Graduation date of December 2024 or May 2025 required.
- Overall GPA of 3.2 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
- Eligibility to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) is required.
