About the position

The Associate Engineer Environmental Health & Safety Engineer will be part of the Industrial Safety / Industrial Hygiene team at Northrop Grumman's Promontory, Utah facility. This role focuses on ensuring safety compliance in the design, fabrication, and testing of aerospace hardware, particularly in energetic material manufacturing processes. The engineer will promote a safety culture, conduct audits, assist in design reviews, and provide guidance on safety controls and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a high level of safety consciousness among employees.
• Work with internal and external customers to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
• Perform worksite audits, inspections, and evaluations on the operating floor.
• Assist in design reviews for safety-regulated compliance.
• Provide guidance on machine safety controls and safe operating procedures.
• Assist in accident/incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Monitor potential health hazards in the workplace, including chemical and ergonomic assessments.
• Assist in authoring and classifying chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Provide written reports and documentation with recommendations to reduce workplace hazards.
• Assist in safety-related training courses.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Bachelor's degree in industrial safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a technical science field required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Microsoft SharePoint is a plus.
• Excellent mathematical, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a Safety position within a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with safety regulations related to aerospace manufacturing.
• Knowledge of OSHA Hazard Communication Standards.
