About the position

The Associate Engineer in Automation Engineering at Catalent Biologics plays a crucial role in supporting the lifecycle management of equipment and automation systems within the manufacturing and laboratory environments. This position involves user account maintenance, monitoring and repairing control systems, onboarding new equipment, and troubleshooting issues. The role emphasizes collaboration with local IT and other engineering teams to enhance operational technology initiatives, ensuring compliance and health of systems while contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • User account maintenance of network systems, production skids, laboratory systems and equipment utilizing networked active directory.
  • Monitor, maintain, and repair existing production and laboratory control and monitoring systems (PLC type systems, software, etc.).
  • Onboard computer systems and network connections for new laboratory and production equipment.
  • Learn existing systems and contribute to new technology installations.
  • Respond and assist with troubleshooting equipment/control system problems or connections.
  • User access administration for appropriate levels of security control and user access per procedures.
  • Complete routine work orders to support health and compliance of systems and complete deviation process for lost data or system interruption.
  • Support local IT project initiatives and work with local IT field services to streamline issuance of computers for IOT systems.
  • Complete tasks assigned by lead or as part of project work with minimal oversight, meeting tasks intent and schedule.
  • Train end users of computerized systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related scientific field with applicable knowledge, or Technical/Associate degree in a technology/computer based or related scientific field with 1-2 years related work experience, or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Related work experience or previous intern/co-op program experience preferred.
  • Ability to formulate comprehensive materials such as authoritative reports and/or to create/deliver informal presentations.
  • Ability to cross-train on techniques across multiple groups.
  • Ability to provide ideas, introduce new technology, and drive process improvements with support from team and supervisor.
  • Problem solving (Lean Six Sigma) and change management methodologies consistent with establishing a culture of continuous improvement is preferred.
