The Associate Engineer position within the City and County of San Francisco is a vital role that encompasses a range of professional engineering tasks both in the field and office settings. Under general direction, the Associate Engineer is responsible for supervising junior engineers, technicians, inspectors, surveyors, and other personnel involved in various engineering projects. This position plays a crucial part in the city's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its diverse population through effective urban development and infrastructure management. The essential functions of the Associate Engineer may vary based on specific assignments. Key responsibilities include preparing engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, as well as developing cost and quantity estimates for labor, materials, and equipment necessary for construction and maintenance projects. The Associate Engineer will provide engineering support to operations staff, review existing conditions, and conduct studies to identify and analyze samples and data.
