About the position

The Associate Engineer - Facilities position at Kennedy Jenks Consultants involves working within a multi-disciplined team to deliver industrial engineering design and construction services across various industries, including mining, aerospace, and manufacturing. The role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, with a focus on supporting projects from initial planning through to construction and startup operations.

Responsibilities

  • Work on challenging projects in the mining and metals, aerospace, pulp and paper mill, food and beverage, and manufacturing industries.
  • Collaborate in a collegial and supportive multi-disciplined team environment on projects from initial planning stages through design construction and startup operations.
  • Deliver industrial engineering design and construction in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and California.
  • Conduct industrial engineering design, chemical and process calculations, bench and pilot testing, and provide engineering services during construction of projects.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical or other related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in planning, engineering, design, construction and commissioning.
  • Prior engineering experience with industrial water, industrial wastewater, mechanical infrastructure, system controls, process automation, water/mass balances, or process design is preferred.
  • Project development oversight and project management experience, including scope, schedule, fee preparation, negotiation, project staffing, and coordination of activities related to planning, design, and construction.
  • Ability to travel to client and project sites for client visits/meetings and other travel to other Kennedy Jenks offices as necessary.
  • Leverage existing client relationships to expand services.
  • Depending on years of experience, Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain EIT within one year of employment, or Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • Experience with computer-aided drafting (CAD) and design in similar applications (BlueBeam) is preferred.
