About the position

The Associate Engineer position at National Grid is part of the Gas Engineering Design team in Waltham, MA, focusing on the design and engineering of pipeline projects within the New England North distribution territory. This hybrid role emphasizes collaboration and mentorship, aiming to deliver 100% fossil-free heat to customers by 2050. The team consists of civil and mechanical engineers of varying experience levels, working under the guidance of Professional Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate designs for natural gas engineering projects to improve and grow the distribution system.
  • Assess project scopes to identify local requirements and risks prior to design to ensure a complete, high quality, and safe project outcome.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create design and construction drawings using AutoCAD in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Manage external engineering design firms and ensure their designs are completed in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Review construction standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited B.S. Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 1+ years in a civil or mechanical engineering role preferred.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design products preferred.
  • Experience using ArcGIS software preferred.
  • EIT or ability to obtain within one year required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
