About the position
The Associate Scientist in the Insulation Research and Innovation team will play a pivotal role in developing sustainable polyisocyanurate insulation technologies. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to drive innovation and new product development, ultimately contributing to the growth of the insulation product line. The successful candidate will become an expert in insulation products and lead significant projects within the Research and Innovation group, operating under the guidance of the R&I Insulation Manager.
Responsibilities
- Leading multiple Innovation and New Product Development projects critical to grow the insulation business.
- Leading research activities on new and existing products as well as identifying and implementing new technologies within the insulation group.
- Utilizing advanced material characterization techniques to establish structure property relationships of polymer materials.
- Managing the technical projects from ideation through scale up to commercialization.
- Supporting the insulation business through new product development, processing and performance improvement, raw material qualification and cost reduction projects.
- Collaborating with sales, marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, warranty departments and CCM staff on defining project priorities, project scope and future development directions.
- Publishing technical reports, conducting technical presentations, and championing safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science (or related technical discipline); MS or PhD is preferred.
- 2+ years as an R&D Chemist, Scientist, Polymer Scientist, or R&D Process Engineer in a testing lab or R&D facility.
