About the position

The Associate Engineer position involves acquiring knowledge and skills in a specific engineering functional area through routine assignments. The role includes performing engineering investigations, design tasks, and project management for small to medium utility projects. The engineer will work under close supervision initially, gaining independence with experience, and will coordinate with internal stakeholders and assist in project management tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine engineering assignments using standard analysis, procedures, and techniques.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and analysis, and design tasks.
  • Prepare portions of project documents and review project plans.
  • Serve as a project manager for small to moderately complex utility projects through all phases.
  • Assist in preparing requests for proposals (RFPs) and reviewing responses.
  • Oversee complex field inspections and document non-conformance with design plans.
  • Monitor assigned utility system performance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare technical, financial, or process analysis reports.
  • Provide written and verbal project status reports including scheduling and financial performance details.
  • Perform other job-related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Environmental, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering accredited by EAC/ABET.
  • Valid driver's license required prior to employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project management in utility projects.
  • Familiarity with engineering design software.
  • Knowledge of procurement guidelines and policies.
