About the position

The Associate Engineering Manager for Systems and Software at Lockheed Martin is a pivotal role that combines leadership with technical expertise in the field of Systems and Software Integration and Test Engineering. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to expand their management experience while contributing to the Theater Battle Management Core Systems (TBMCS) programs for the USMC and Force Level. The selected candidate will take on first-line management responsibilities, overseeing the daily operations of Systems and Software Integration and Test activities. This includes ensuring that all phases of software releases are executed with a keen focus on integration and testing considerations throughout the software development lifecycle. In this role, the Associate Engineering Manager will evaluate individual performance, participate in recruitment and training, and manage work assignments and employee growth actions. They will also have Control Account Management (CAM) responsibilities, which involve creating and validating program schedules, understanding and reporting on Earned Value Management System (EVMS) metrics, and tracking monthly program costs and schedules. The manager will define, manage, and track Software Integration and Test activities, addressing any issues or roadblocks that arise and communicating effectively with the team and program leadership. The position requires regular interfacing with team members and program leadership to coordinate operations and scheduling across all phases of development, production, and testing. The Associate Engineering Manager will oversee the development and execution of system test activities, ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with customer objectives. Additionally, they will be responsible for Release Manager (RM) activities as a key individual named on the contract, and will administer policies and procedures that affect team members directly.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate individual performance and participate in employee recruitment, selection, training, and growth actions.
  • Control Account Management (CAM) responsibilities for Software Integration and Test tasks, including program schedule creation and validation.
  • Define, manage, and track Software Integration and Test activities, including status, issues, and action plans.
  • Produce and present program information/status related to Software Integration and Test engineering activities for customers and program leadership.
  • Interface with team members and program leadership regarding operations and scheduling of development, production, and test phases.
  • Oversee the development, execution, and analysis of system test activities, procedures, plans, and scripts.
  • Provide direction on daily operations and lead the Software Integration and Test team to ensure timely project completion.
  • Responsible for Release Manager (RM) activities as a key individual named on the contract.
  • Administer and execute policies and procedures affecting individual team members.

Requirements

  • A degree from an accredited college with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.
  • Previous experience on a software development, system integration/test, or sustainment program.
  • Demonstrated success in a technical leadership role and driving issues to closure.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, integration and test (SEIT), and mission assurance fundamentals.
  • Experience leading/managing a team.
  • Experience developing/executing program schedules.
  • Experience working closely with customer personnel.
  • Experience overseeing and assisting Integration and Test staff in task execution.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Willingness to occasionally work shift schedules and support program objectives requiring additional hours beyond the scheduled work week.
  • Must have an Interim Secret Clearance or be able to obtain one.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with the TBMCS program.
  • Experience with Planning Tools for Air Tasking Orders/Airspace Control Orders (ATO/ACO).
  • Excellent facilitation skills and ability to lead resolution of issues.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and building/executing project schedules.
  • Familiarity with Agile development, pipeline, DevSecOps, and Test Automation.
  • Experience with Configuration Management Systems such as GitLab.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian toolset (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong social skills.
  • Demonstrated experience within Software/Systems Integration and/or Test Engineering.
  • CAM and EVMS work experience.
  • Working knowledge of 1LMX tools.
