The Role As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician who is responsible for performing basic maintenance to automated equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment under supervision to ensure safe working practices and compliance. This position assists Senior level Technicians on complex manufacturing equipment issues and learns the GMP repair and replacement documentation process to ensure compliance as taught and directed. This position will be located on site in Carlsbad, CA and operates on a Monday-Friday schedule from 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm and is eligible for a shift differential.

Responsibilities

  • Manages personal safety on an ongoing basis.
  • Performs basic and routine preventative maintenance on production equipment utilizing the preventive maintenance system.
  • Completes assigned tasks with appropriate direction and instructions.
  • Performs shift startup as required.
  • Supports documentation and signoff processes.
  • Undertakes learning of critical processes, normal problem symptoms, and learning problem-solving techniques.
  • Performs equipment and process repairs under general guidance of Senior Technicians and Leadership.
  • Performs duties in compliance with established business policies.
  • Performs additional work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 -3 years of prior experience in equipment maintenance/service or production machine operator.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, with appropriate direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all work within job appropriate safety standards and protocols.
  • Ability to learn the proper use of power tools and associated safety procedures.
  • Ability to work within a self-directed work team environment.
  • Initiative to understand, learn and apply basic level of electro-mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics, machine manuals, preventive maintenance procedures, and machine safety protocols.
  • Thorough understanding and application of safety procedures.
  • Excellent use of communication, cooperation, and people skills.
  • Basic documentation skills.
  • Basic computer skills including file management, MS Office and preventive maintenance software.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently and in a team effectively.

  • Experience conducting routine maintenance.
  • Experience with high voltage equipment electrical and sensor systems.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Trade school certification or associate degree.
