About the position

The Associate, Enterprise Risk Management at Invenergy will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation and management of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Crisis Management and Recovery frameworks. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management and is integral to the oversight of Invenergy's extensive renewable and thermal generation portfolio, which encompasses over 15,000 MWs of projects currently in operation or under construction, along with more than 4,000 MWs in advanced development. The Associate will work closely with various Business Units and departments to conduct risk and resilience assessments, prioritize risks, monitor and report on risk status, and develop mitigation strategies that align with Invenergy's strategic goals. The responsibilities of this role include the continued development of the ERM framework, which involves establishing governance structures, policies, procedures, and reporting requirements for comprehensive risk assessment and mitigation activities across the company. The Associate will coordinate the Risk Management Committee and facilitate cross-functional risk assessments that consider both internal and external risk factors. Additionally, the role requires the ingestion and assessment of risk intelligence to understand the interconnections and potential consequences of identified risks on the business. The Associate will also validate existing risk assessments, incorporate emerging risks, and collaborate with Business Unit leaders to enhance risk mitigation and recovery plans. This position will leverage various tools and dashboards to track and report on risks, including key performance indicators and mitigation plan statuses. The Associate will be responsible for developing presentations on risk and resilience for both internal and external stakeholders and facilitating discussions on top risks with senior leaders and Board Members. Training in risk management tools and processes will also be a key component of this role, fostering a culture of continuous learning and proactive risk management within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the continued development of the ERM framework for management of enterprise and operational risks, including governance, policies, procedures, tools, and reporting requirements for company-wide risk assessment, prioritization, and mitigation activities.
  • Coordinate the company's Risk Management Committee, supporting the Enterprise Risk Management and Crisis Management and Recovery frameworks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate repeatable, cross-functional risk assessments that incorporate risk interdependencies, internal and external factors, and existing and potential mitigation strategies.
  • Ingest and assess risk intelligence with an understanding of the interconnections and consequences to the business.
  • Validate existing risk assessments and incorporate new or emerging risks as identified by key leaders or risk intelligence into the ERM framework.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit leaders, department heads, or other stakeholders as needed to evaluate, scope, and improve risk mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Risk Management and Commercial Execution to assess energy management activities for operating projects, supporting development of project-specific risk assessments and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Leverage tools, scorecards, and dashboards to manage accurate tracking and reporting of risks, including key performance indicators, key risk indicators, and mitigation plan status.
  • Develop risk and resilience presentations for internal and/or external use as needed.
  • Facilitate review of top risks and status with stakeholders, including Business Unit leaders, Officers, Board Members, and Financing Parties, as required to cultivate a risk-aware culture.
  • Facilitate training in risk management tools and processes that support a culture of continuous learning, information sharing, and ownership for proactively identifying, analyzing, mitigating, and structuring around risks.
  • Support assessment of strengths and gaps in risk management practices and procedures.
  • Support any compliance or internal audit process of control procedures, as and when required.
  • In partnership with IT, Business Transformation, Compliance, and other departments, implement new technology platforms, systems, and tools used for Governance, Risk and Compliance as needed to managing and report Enterprise Risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • 5-6+ years' relevant experience, ideally in Enterprise Risk Management and/or Asset Management with a multi-national business in the power, renewables, oil and gas, construction, or similar industries.
  • In depth understanding of enterprise risk management processes and principles such as risk identification, analysis, evaluation, risk treatment, and monitoring activities outlined in ISO 31000 and/or COSO ERM framework.
  • Project management experience from a project lead perspective, maintaining engagement to ensure projects are completed in compliance with requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience using or working with Governance, Risk and Compliance systems.
