About the position

The Associate L&P Specialist plays a crucial role in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance for vegetation management and energy infrastructure projects at Eversource. This position is responsible for overseeing all phases of environmental planning, scheduling, and implementation to minimize environmental liability and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The role also involves collaboration within the L&P group, providing GIS mapping, data retention, compliance, and schedule tracking support. This hybrid role requires full-time office presence for the first three months.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and execute environmental plans for utility projects.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Manage budgets related to environmental permitting and compliance.
  • Build relationships with regulators and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with utility operations to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Manage contracts, including specifications, bid documents, and RFP coordination.
  • Oversee environmental consultants and vendors for compliance services.
  • Conduct wetland resource permitting and cultural resource permitting.
  • Ensure compliance with erosion and sediment protection measures.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and field inspections.
  • Attend public meetings and hearings related to environmental permitting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource, Ecology, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of the environmental permitting process in Connecticut.
  • Familiarity with USACE, CT DEEP, and NDDB responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with aggressive schedules.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of utility construction is strongly preferred.
  • Professional certification (PWS, CPESC, CESSWI, Forester, etc.) is desired.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 40-hour wetland delineation and regulatory training is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of GIS.
