About the position

The Associate Estimator I C&I is responsible for assisting in project cost estimation for commercial and industrial electrical construction. This role involves developing accurate and competitive bid proposals while ensuring compliance with project deadlines and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and input into computer estimating system
• Understand and monitor program scope of work to ensure estimates are completed prior to deadlines
• Schedule and attend field job walk with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements
• Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes, reviewing quotes for completeness with plans and specifications
• Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency
• Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages, including subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, supplies, and schedule
• Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders
• After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project
• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures
• Regular and predictable attendance
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
• Experience with construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services
• Proficient in Microsoft applications
• Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills
• Team player mentality
