About the position

The Associate Facility Manager at the University of Michigan plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations, maintenance, and event management of Michigan Stadium and The Junge Family Champions Center. This position is integral to ensuring that facilities meet high standards for safety, cleanliness, and customer service, particularly during major events and gamedays. The role requires collaboration with various teams and direct supervision of staff, making it essential for maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with university policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Facility Manager with the overall operation and direction of Michigan Stadium and adjacent areas including safety, security, scheduling, setups, cleanliness, repairs and maintenance.
  • Support all Facility Operations on football gamedays and other major events occurring at Michigan Stadium.
  • Coordinate facility-related needs for all internal and external rentals and events, including janitorial needs, furniture setups, catering, and A/V requirements.
  • Create event layouts and serve as the main point of contact for internal clients once events are scheduled.
  • Ensure compliance with University of Michigan policies, fire and electrical codes, and applicable laws for all events.
  • Manage staffing needs for events, including scheduling and supervising student and temporary employees.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and respond quickly to customer needs or requests.
  • Inspect facilities before, during, and after events to assess safety, cleanliness, and document any damages or issues.
  • Assist with the development and administration of facility operating budgets and expense control measures.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS safety standards and University protocols.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in sports facility operations.
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Bachelor's Degree or appropriate mix of education and work experience.

  • Experience in leading, managing, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Knowledge and experience with web-based university computer software and related programs.
  • Experience in customer service related to facility management and event management.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten Compliance rules.
  • Knowledge of EHS Safety Programs and turf management maintenance.
