About the position

The Associate Facility Manager at the University of Michigan plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations, maintenance, and improvement projects at Michigan Stadium and The Junge Family Champions Center. This position is integral to ensuring that facilities meet high standards for safety, cleanliness, and customer service, particularly during events and gamedays. The role requires significant collaboration with various teams and involves a commitment to upholding university policies and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Facility Manager with the overall operation and direction of Michigan Stadium and adjacent areas including safety, security, scheduling, setups, cleanliness, repairs and maintenance.
  • Coordinate facility-related needs for all internal and external rentals and events at Michigan Stadium, The Junge Family Champions Center, and Crisler Center.
  • Manage staffing needs for events, including scheduling and supervising student and temporary employees.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and respond to facility-related emergencies and issues, including nights and weekends.
  • Inspect facilities before, during, and after events to assess safety, cleanliness, and document any damages or issues.
  • Assist with the development and administration of facility operating budgets and expense control measures.
  • Ensure compliance with University protocols, ADA codes, NCAA and Big Ten Rules.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in sports facility operations.
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule, including nights and weekends.

  • Bachelor's Degree or appropriate mix of education and work experience.
  • Successful experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Knowledge and experience with web-based university computer software and related programs.
  • Experience in customer service related to facility management and event management.
  • Experience maintaining large scale state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten Compliance rules.
  • Knowledge of EHS Safety Programs.
  • Turf management maintenance and experience.
