About the position

The Associate, Financial Accounting position at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC involves managing the accounting processes related to equity awards, payroll taxes, and financial reporting. The role requires compliance with accounting standards and regulations while ensuring accurate financial data presentation and analysis. The associate will collaborate with various teams to support business planning and regulatory requirements, contributing to the overall financial health of the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate, record, and report the accounting of equity awards amortization, employer payroll taxes, and mark-to-market accruals to the general ledger.
  • Prepare deferred compensation estimates and projections for business planning and regulatory stress tests using Anaplan.
  • Ensure accurate presentation of share-based financial information and disclosures.
  • Maintain compliance with operational risk mitigation controls.
  • Coordinate with payroll teams to determine employer tax rates for accurate payroll tax expense calculations.
  • Perform reconciliations and maintain documentation in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
  • Prepare audit support for share-based compensation.
  • Document system functionality and create standard operational procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements due to regulatory changes.
  • Prepare reports for regulatory authorities regarding key management personnel.
  • Analyze Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet variances and provide detailed commentary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in financial accounting or a related role.
  • Experience with accounting processes and financial data analysis.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to liaise cross-functionally with strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint, including advanced Excel functions like pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Experience in identifying internal control issues and compliance risk mitigation.
  • Participation in accounting processes such as journal entries and account reconciliation.
  • Ability to investigate fluctuations in Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts.
