Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) is seeking a seasoned Associate to join the Research team within our Global Fixed Income (GFI) unit. This role is pivotal in providing deep analytical insights and high conviction investment recommendations. The Associate will work independently as a sector expert, utilizing a combination of top-down sector views and bottom-up fundamental analysis to interpret market developments and their implications for the coverage universe and portfolio. The position requires a clear ability to evaluate relative and absolute risk-return trade-offs and to communicate investment recommendations concisely to Portfolio Managers, the Director of Research, and related Investment Committees. The Associate will contribute positively to portfolio outperformance through effective security selection, sector positioning, and structuring. Engaging with external parties, including borrowers, advisors, and consultants, will be essential in executing due diligence activities. Collaboration is key, as the Associate will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and other investment analysts to maintain a One Team/One Portfolio approach to investment decision-making. This collaborative environment leverages diverse perspectives to identify and pursue investment opportunities that align with overall portfolio objectives. Candidates should exhibit intellectual curiosity about global markets and asset classes, demonstrating deep leveraged finance credit expertise across both public and private markets. Effective communication skills are crucial for interacting with multiple stakeholders, including portfolio managers, investment committees, and senior management. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience as an analyst making successful investment recommendations, along with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. An MBA and CFA designation are encouraged but not mandatory.
