About the position

Dominion Energy is seeking an Associate Gas Controller or Gas Controller to join their team in Cayce, SC. This role involves utilizing the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor and control gas facilities, ensuring pipeline pressures remain within safe limits. The position requires analyzing gas control data, responding to alarms, and coordinating with field personnel during emergencies. The successful candidate will contribute to the efficient and reliable operation of the gas system while adhering to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Utilize SCADA system to monitor and control gas facilities.
• Operate remote control valves, regulators, and compressors to maintain pipeline pressures within Maximum Allowable Operating Pressures (MAOP).
• Analyze transmission pipeline system and recommend operational changes.
• Respond to SCADA alarms and adjust gas volumes and pressures as needed.
• Assist in implementing the daily operating plan for gas system operations.
• Create emergency orders and manage notifications of escalated incidents.
• Develop professional relationships with field personnel and other departments.
• Direct field personnel during pipeline repairs and outages (Gas Controller role).
• Coordinate nominations with suppliers and storage partners (Gas Controller role).

Requirements

• Associate degree and 0 - 2 years directly related experience for Associate Gas Controller or 3+ years for Gas Controller.
• Experience in natural gas, analytical, utility, or process operation/control.
• Ability to learn and retain knowledge of natural gas safety and emergency plans.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data, detect errors, and recommend changes.
• Basic math skills for data recording and calculations.
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic knowledge of company operations, pipeline network, and facilities.
• Experience in a similar role prior to moving to Gas Controller level.
