About the position

WSP is seeking an Associate Geologist to support its California District, with opportunities to work from various offices including Rancho Cordova and Roseville. The role involves assisting technical staff and project managers in due diligence, subsurface investigation, and remediation projects, contributing to environmental data collection and analysis, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from various sampling methods.
  • Review, integrate, and perform quality control for geological and hydrogeological databases.
  • Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements and analysis.
  • Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining and calibrating equipment and tools, and perform inventory control activities.
  • Attend to well installation monitoring and remediation-system pilot testing.
  • Assist with environmental risk identification and assessment.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
  • Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field work permitting.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a closely related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience working as a Geologist.
  • Analytical mindset and experience with geological research techniques.
  • Familiarity with reducing hazardous substances and awareness of mitigation programs.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental laws and compliance practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office software.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
