The Associate People (HR) Business Intelligence position at JD Finish Line is a pivotal role within the Compensation & People Analytics team, focusing on two primary areas: data and analytics for the HR department and the administration of compensation activities. In the realm of BI & Analytics, the Associate will utilize advanced data manipulation skills to support compensation activities, focusing on process improvement and automation. This involves taking raw data from diverse sources, cleaning and transforming it, and creating automated dashboards and reports that highlight key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the department's goals. The role requires collaboration with HR Technology and IT Analytics teams to build automation solutions that reduce manual reporting efforts and leverage technology for innovation. Additionally, the Associate will stay informed about industry trends in data and analytics, particularly within the HR field, and will recommend improvements to data acquisition and utilization processes. On the compensation side, the Associate will conduct job and market pay analyses to provide salary recommendations and ensure compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) classifications. This includes administering bonus programs, managing pay changes, and working on strategic projects such as pay banding. The role also involves analyzing compensation programs for compliance and trends, maintaining documentation, and conducting regular audits of compensation initiatives. Overall, this position is integral to the success of the HR department and the organization as a whole, requiring a blend of analytical expertise and a commitment to equitable compensation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced data manipulation skills to administer compensation activities with a focus on process improvement and automation.
  • Transform raw data from various sources to create automated dashboards and reports for departmental KPIs.
  • Collaborate with HR Technology and IT Analytics teams to build automation and reduce manual reporting requirements.
  • Research data and analytics industry trends in the HR field and recommend process improvements.
  • Act as a consultant to other People Department teams, providing insights to aid in business decision-making.
  • Conduct job and market pay analysis to determine appropriate salary recommendations and FLSA classifications.
  • Partner with the Talent team for in-depth pay analysis to ensure fair and competitive total rewards offerings.
  • Administer bonus programs and communicate results to employees and business leaders.
  • Manage pay changes, including performance-based merit increases and market adjustments.
  • Work on strategic projects such as pay banding and analyze compensation programs for compliance and trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in business, finance, or data/analytics.
  • 1 - 3 years of professional experience in a data and analytics role or compensation role, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven experience working with complex data sets and creating dashboards using BI tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Strong experience with BI tools such as Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Javascript, and/or SQL is beneficial.
  • Basic to intermediate experience with HRIS tools like Workday or Dayforce is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
